Narcotics crimes constitute offenses that generate enormous economic benefits for perpetrators and their networks. In this context, asset confiscation becomes a fundamental and indispensable instrument for disrupting the financial chain of narcotics-related crimes. This study analyzes the legal basis, implementation, obstacles, and optimization strategies for the confiscation of assets derived from narcotics crimes in Indonesia. The research employs a normative juridical method with statutory, theoretical, and case approaches. The findings indicate that asset confiscation in Indonesia is supported by an adequate legal framework; however, its implementation still faces challenges, including difficulties in proving the origin of assets, limited inter-agency coordination, and the weak technical capacity of law enforcement officers. This study recommends strengthening regulations, applying the reversal of the burden of proof, enhancing investigators’ capacity, and optimizing national and international cooperation in asset recovery.
